Web Development for Small Businesses

Custom-built websites served from Cloudflare's edge network. No WordPress, no plugins, no page builder. Nothing between your customer and a page that loads instantly.

Most small business websites are assembled, not built. Somebody picks a theme, bolts on a dozen plugins, and hands over something that takes six seconds to load and breaks the first time an update lands. It works right up until it does not, and then nobody is quite sure which of the fourteen moving parts went wrong.

I build the other way. Every JB Web Co. site is custom-built HTML, CSS, and JavaScript, deployed straight to Cloudflare Pages. There is no framework, no database, no admin panel, and no plugin subscriptions. The browser downloads a finished page and shows it. That is why these sites load the way they do, and why they keep working when nobody has touched them in eight months.

This page covers what I actually build, how a project runs, and why the stack is the selling point rather than a technical detail. The recent work section has live client sites built exactly this way.

Development work, start to finish.

Custom website builds

A site designed and coded for your business specifically. Structure, copy, layout, and behavior built around what you need visitors to do, not around what a template allows.

  • Mobile-first layout
  • Accessible markup and keyboard navigation
  • Written for search and AI answers

Rebuilds and migrations

Moving off Wix, Squarespace, GoDaddy, or an aging WordPress install. You keep your domain and your email, and I redirect your existing page addresses so your search rankings come with you.

  • URL mapping and 301 redirects
  • Content carried over, not retyped
  • Cutover with no downtime

Landing pages and lead capture

Single-purpose pages built to convert one specific kind of visitor, whether that comes from a Google search, a mailer, or an ad you are already paying for.

  • One clear call to action
  • Source tracking on form submissions
  • Fast enough to survive a mobile click

Forms, booking, and galleries

Contact forms that actually reach your inbox, quote request flows, scheduling forms, filterable before-and-after galleries, and private client pages for photographers and creatives.

  • Spam-resistant without a captcha wall
  • Photo and video gallery systems
  • Private pages for your clients

Performance and Core Web Vitals

Images sized and converted properly, fonts loaded without blocking, scripts kept off the critical path. If your current site is slow, I can usually tell you exactly why in one call.

  • Image optimization and modern formats
  • Render-blocking work removed
  • Measured, not guessed at

Technical SEO and structured data

Titles, descriptions, canonical tags, sitemaps, and schema markup that tells Google and AI tools plainly what your business is, what it does, and where it does it.

  • LocalBusiness and FAQ schema
  • Sitemap and robots configuration
  • Google Business Profile setup

How a project runs.

1

We talk

Twenty minutes on the phone about what your business does, who you want calling you, and what is wrong with what you have now. Free, and there is no pitch at the end of it.

2

You see a draft

Once I have your photos, logo, and details, a working first draft is usually up on a private link within about 48 hours. Not a mockup. A real page you can open on your phone.

3

We fix what is off

You send notes, I make changes, we go around until it is right. This is the part where being one person instead of an agency actually saves you weeks.

4

It goes live and stays live

Domain pointed, SSL on, sitemap submitted, Google Business Profile connected. After that I host it, back it up, monitor it, and handle your edits by text.

Boring technology, on purpose. That is the feature.

  • Plain HTML, CSS, and JavaScript

No React, no framework, no build step, no content management system sitting between you and your own page. The browser gets the finished document instead of assembling one out of a dozen scripts, which is most of why these sites feel instant.

  • Deployed to Cloudflare Pages

Your site is served from Cloudflare's global edge network, so it is delivered from a location near whoever is loading it. Free SSL, HTTP/3, and DDoS protection come with it. This site runs on exactly that setup, which is the version of a demo I can actually stand behind.

  • No plugins, no database, no attack surface

A typical WordPress site runs a theme plus a dozen plugins, each one something that can break on update, expire on a license, or become the security hole nobody noticed. There are no plugins here to update and no database to breach. If you have ever gotten the email that your site was hacked, this is the part that fixes it.

  • Fast on a phone with two bars

Most people find a local business on a phone, often on a bad connection in a parking lot. Pages are built to hit Core Web Vitals honestly: images sized and converted, fonts loaded without blocking, nothing heavy on the critical path.

  • You own all of it

Domain registered in your name, code that is plain HTML and CSS. Any other developer can pick it up and keep going without needing a thing from me. A monthly plan should hold onto you because the service is worth it, not because leaving is painful.

$129 to build $99 a month

Hosting, SSL, daily backups, security and uptime monitoring, speed work, and unlimited small edits are all inside the monthly price. Larger custom development gets quoted before it starts.

Development questions, answered plainly.

Custom-built HTML, CSS, and JavaScript, deployed to Cloudflare Pages. No framework, no build step, no content management system sitting in the middle. That is not nostalgia, it is the reason the sites load as fast as they do: the browser gets the finished page instead of assembling one out of a dozen scripts. When a project genuinely needs something more, like a booking system or a payment flow, I bring in the specific tool for that job rather than installing a platform around it.

WordPress is fine for sites that need it. Most small business sites do not, and they pay for it anyway. A typical WordPress site runs a theme plus a dozen plugins, each one a thing that can break, slow the page down, need a license renewal, or turn into a security hole you did not know you had. A site built this way has no plugins to update and no database to breach. If you have ever gotten an email saying your site was hacked or your plugin subscription lapsed, that is the problem I am removing.

Yes, and it is a big share of the work I do. Wix, Squarespace, GoDaddy builder, an old WordPress install, or a site an agency built and abandoned: send me the link and I will tell you honestly whether it is worth fixing or worth replacing. On a rebuild, you keep your domain and your email, I match or redirect your existing page addresses so you do not lose search rankings, and we cut over so the site never goes dark.

Booking and scheduling forms, quote request flows, and gallery systems with private client pages, yes, and those are all part of a normal build. Full e-commerce with a large catalog and inventory is outside the standard plan. If you need a real store I will tell you that upfront and point you somewhere sensible rather than taking the job and doing it badly. Selling a handful of products is usually workable, so it is worth asking.

$129 to build and $99 a month, with hosting, SSL, daily backups, security monitoring, and unlimited small edits inside the monthly price. Once I have your content, a first draft is usually ready in about 48 hours and the site is live in under two weeks. Bigger custom work gets quoted before it starts, and you will know the number before the build begins.

You do, both of them. The domain stays registered in your name and the site is yours. Because it is plain HTML, CSS, and JavaScript with no proprietary platform underneath, another developer can pick it up and keep going without needing anything from me. That is deliberate. A monthly plan should keep you because the service is good, not because leaving is painful.

Yes. Home base is Arnold, Missouri, and I work with businesses across Jefferson County and Metro East Illinois. But development work does not require me to be in the room. Plenty of the process is a phone call, a shared link to the draft, and a few rounds of notes, and that works the same whether you are 20 minutes away or across the country.

Tell me what you need built.

New site, rebuild, or something specific that your current setup cannot do. First conversation is free and I will tell you honestly whether I am the right person for it.
